Call for Fiction Submissions.
Communa is a digital and print publication interested in exploring sociocultural stories with curiosity and insight. We are obsessed with publishing stories that reveal new things about known concepts, or bring our attention to socio-cultural concerns we may not be paying enough attention to. We aim to publish smart, tender, well-considered but most of all, curiosity-led writing, and to bring the world closer to interesting ideas.
We are pleased to announce our first call for submission. For our first print issue, we are seeking short stories. We want to be surprised, we want to be moved and most of all, we want to publish you.

Meet Our Judges:
Theodore Avwerosuoghene Ogedegbe is a versatile writer recognized for his extensive expertise in creative writing, research, and social commentary. With a diverse portfolio encompassing short stories, poetry, and academic discourse, he has earned numerous accolades, including being named Judelucan Magazine's Writer of the Year in 2022 and winning the EEzee Pen Writing Contest in 2021.
Grace Malik is an award winning storyteller and a multifaceted creative. She has been professionally writing writing for over three years now, and she’s also the founder of the Thriving Creatives community, a community that is intentional about nurturing creatives in Africa to thrive in the digital economy. You will find Grace most times creating content for her personal brand, a personal development brand geared towards helping people achieve growth and self improvement. And in her spare time, she indulges in being an avid reader and a terrible dancer.
Nelson C.J is a Lagos-based writer who has been published in The New York Times, TIME Magazine, Billboard, Rollingstone, Architectural Digest, Pitchfork, Dazed, I-D, and other places. He has worked on content development and research for Spotify, National Geographic and other places.

Guidelines for submissions
We accept fiction that has not been published on any platform. We also accept simultaneous submissions, please be kind enough to inform us if your submission has been accepted by another publication.

We are looking for original fiction on any given subject matter that covers the theme: “The house the people built.”
Submissions should be via this LINK a minimum length of 1,500 words and maximum of 5000 words is required.
Save the attached document with the category and title of your work only. For example; “Fiction. A time to cry”. Please do not save the attached document with your name.
A brief introduction about yourself with your social media handles should be included in your submission.
Submissions are open from April 8th 2024 to May 8th 2024.
Note: Fiction entries with over 1,500 words will be considered
